ROLLOE is the winner of Design Innovation in Polymer 2020 Award. It’s a concept bicycle wheel that activates air purifier system through movement. Rolloe wheels would work great in polluted roadways, it requires zero energy to function, simply ride your bike, it’ll purify the air around using its washable filters. This concept wheel is targeted at ride sharing bicycles such as Mobike or Santander Cycles that reward consumers based on distance travelled.
Designed by Kristen Tapping, a third year product design student from London South Bank University, ROLLOE concept is dedicated to operate in busiest and most polluted roadways. It requires zero energy to work except pedal power from the cyclist. It features activated carbon and HEPA filters to help filter the air around, of course, we can’t do it alone. That’s why Tapping says that this concept is targeted to large scale shared bicycle schemes, just like those used in London.
