First I started with research of loosing identity, traditions, or fake identity in my environment. Then I gather products, places, cultures which characterize or influenced me, during my life in Bratislava.
I was inspired by East block cars, aluminum sheet sculpts, concrete reliefs (so typical for Bratislava), Slavic folklore ornaments, together with my interest in textile design and physical work with materials (make it by myself, with my hands, as much as its possible).
And I found so much connections with my identity and Audi identity. For Example, I think Audi has rich rally tradition (simple and resistant surfaces–really functional), and from this comes their nowaday, simple, time-resistant design. There I see connection with cars from our east region, which was designed for longer time -after 20 years it still looks OK- because they were simple and resistant.
Connection between Bratislava sculpts, or Balkan monuments and Audi is, that I believe that Audi has sense for monumental, but still minimalistic concrete showrooms. And Slovak folklore patterns can be useful not just for finding new interior geometry.
Working with materials-textile, bending of metal sheets in sculpts, can limits the creator little bit, but on the other hand, it gives him new shapes-design. And these basics from construction industry we can use like- We are in 2016, but buildings are still from concrete, metal… and cars are still from metal sheet, textile materials…so I think we can be more natural, HONEST – my key word in this project.
