Organized by Samsung Design Membership, Suburb Street Performance Recorder is a concept portable recorder specially designed for contemporary street performers. These performers have to face new challenges due to the rise of online environment. Even though online street performances bring new experience in listening to music to audiences worldwide, they still can’t replace authentic live music experience.
Using 16:9 frame, most videos only capture a fraction of the true essence from a live music performance, while in reality, live street performers not only allow joyous audience to enjoy the music but also the sunlight of the day, the lovely ambience of the space, as well as other environmental factors.
Suburb Street Performance Recorder by Woojin Jang is able to capture the true essence of live music performance by the confines of this frame. This concept project aims to revolutionize the way music is experienced and shared by bringing authenticity of street performances to today’s digital world.
The recorder consists of a 360-degree camera, HiFi monitoring speakers, and spatial audio microphones. The camera captures not only the performance but also the atmosphere, it supports 4K 60fps high-definition recording while capturing the dynamic performance of the musician and vivid environment. It makes sure that nothing is missed. The HiFi monitoring speakers are positioned to the face of the performance, therefore, Suburb can deliver effective monitoring performance. In the meantime, that spatial audio microphones capture the vibrant sounds of the music scene, allowing pristine recording without interruption from the monitoring sound.
