Trekker is a concept vehicle commissioned by DiDi, it’s developed through guidance and resources from ArtCenter College of Design. Dedicated for young adults, city dwelling of the year 2030, Trekker is a reliable everyday and adventure vehicle. This vehicle promises a solution for stressed-out generation, it helps them leave urban lifestyle and immerse in nature.
The exterior body comes with a deployable sunshade, it allows the experimentation with the soft and hard materials. You can use the soft material for a tent, or the hard one being the vehicle that it sits on. Trekker has been designed with deployable exterior parts that turn into sitting spaces, it was actually the main factor driving the design. It allows user to experience its nature surroundings without the need to leave the car.
Inspired by robotics and digital realm, Hayden Ahn, the exterior designer, and Sean Yang, the interior designer, have come together to design Trekker to make sure its user can enjoy outdoor environment with greatest level of possible convenience.
The front, side, and rear of the car are all deployable, allowing user to enjoy maximum open space experience. As the trunk opens, the front part of the vehicle opens and provides a workbench where you can sit on. When the tailgate/rear-cargo-space opens, it splits horizontally in two, and the bottom part becomes a workbench as well.
You can keep your dirty shoes inside that extra storage space on the side of this vehicle, especially after a long day hiking. Trekker also features airless tires for improved versatility and reduced maintenance effort.
