Railway Motorcycle Concept Runs on Railways and on Land

This futuristic Railway Motorcycle concept is one of 2021 London International Creative Competition finalists. It’s not just a manned motorcycle that runs on land but also on railways. Due to rapid development of global railways, it also increases responsibility of railway maintenance, therefore maintenance workers have become more and more important. Unfortunately, most railway maintenance workers have to walk to do their work, it reduces efficiency and safety.

Railway Motorcycle would be an ideal vehicle for railway maintenance workers. Heqi Wang, Jianning Su, Xinyi Ma, and Kai Qiu have come up with dual-use vehicle to boost these workers efficiency. It’s not just specially designed for maintenance workers, it has possibility to turn into electric motorcycle for ordinary people to ride on land.

The design gives this concept motorcycle wings on both sides that latch on the rails when lowered. This motorcycle can run on track at high speed and stably while helping railway maintenance workers fast to their maintenance area. The design team explains that the body would be made of aluminum-magnesium alloy with vacuum-puncture-proof tires. The LED touch screen display on the dashboard would inform essential information about this motorcycle as well as tracking the journey.
