Volkswagen I.D. R Pikes Peak Race Car is the latest motorsport project from Volkswagen. It’s an all electric racing car that will compete in the Pikes International Hill Climb, Colorado. At this moment, the company already has the prototype, this project can be the first step towards a closer relationship between Volkswagen R and Volkswagen Motorsport.

It is planned that Volkswagen would offer more than 20 fully electric cars by 2025, the first production model of I.D. family will be started at the end of 2019 in Germany. Dr. Frank Welsch, a Volkswagen member of the Board Management, says that by competing in the famous hillclimb with I.D. R Pikes Peak, it can be a great valuable test for general development of electric cars.
