Porsche Mission X Concept Hypercar with Le Mans-style Doors

Porsche Mission X, is the last spectacular concept study from Porsche that has always worked hard to laid the groundwork for the future mobility. Mission X is a futuristic concept vehicle, a reinterpretation of a hypercar that features scissor doors that open upwards to the front. This project is part of celebrating 75 years of Porsche sports cars, as a concept study, it’s not for sale, it’s just a glimpse of possible future sports car could look like.

Oliver Blume, Chairman of the Executive Board of Porsche AG says that Porsche Mission X would be a technology beacon for the sports car of the future. It was inspired by iconic sports cars of decades past from 959, the Carrera GT and the 918 Spyder. Mission X represents evolutionary development of future vehicle concepts, Porsche has only remained Porsche simply by constantly changing.

Measuring at 177 inches long and 78.7 inches wide, Porsche Mission X concept can be considered as a compact hypercar. The wheelbase is 107.4 inches, it has the same dimensions of the Carrera GT and 918 Spyder. For better aerodynamic, this concept features 20-inch wheels at the front and 21-inch wheels at the rear.

The exterior body features sculpted form and muscular lines, demonstrating that hypercars don’t always have to look aggressive. The low slung body is less than 47.2 inches tall and finished in Rocket Metallic, special paint color designed for this concept study. Mission X features a lightweight glass dome with an exoskeleton made of carbon fiber reinforced plastic (CFRP) that extends over both occupants. Mission X highlights Le Mans-style doors which are attached to the A-pillar and the roof, these doors open forwards and upwards. The same type of door that was used on the legendary Porsche 917 racing car. The high-tech support structure frames the LED light modules and at the same time presents the exposed narrow elements of daytime running lights and indicators. The full-length light unit appears to float characterizes the rear of this hypercar.
