Hydrogen Powered ACIONNA Megayacht Comes with Eight Decks and a Helicopter Hanger

ACIONNA, it’s a 175-meter megayacht that challenges many of preconceptions about larger yachts where they are often homogenous and conventional in term of design. Claimed to be ultimate world cruising yacht, ACIONNA is absolutely unique, it features avant-garde style that becomes a feast for the eyes from every angle, everyone will be pleased by its elegant proportions and sheer scale.

In comparison to the conventional designs, ACIONNA Megayacht utilizes more space for its propulsion system. It is planned to be powered by hydrogen through the use of a similar system which is being trialled in cruise ships and ferries. Moreover, if the hydrogen is purchased from renewable energy sources, it means that this yacht can be said to be “zero impact”.

ACIONNA by Andy Waugh is a concept yacht designed and developed to use hydrogen propulsion, it makes sense with larger vessels that require long range capability since battery powered electric systems would need regular recharging. Unfortunately, until now, there are just few marine hydrogen facilities in the planning stage. We need more vessels like this to increase demand for hydrogen, increasing supply due to increased demand.

The interior space of ACIONNA comes with colossal design, it includes a full-size squash court, an indoor pool, and a helicopter hanger. Those eight decks also present a spectacular, double-height saloon with panoramic glass overlooking the main aft deck pool. The main area leads down to the swimming platform, it is highly unusual as it comprises of a central “island” of communal areas where, completely surrounded by the pool but can be accessed through a tunnel aft and a bridge forward. The pool flows continuously down the sloped transom then into a lower pool of the swim platform.
