Started in 2021, Audemars Piguet has collaborated with Marvel to seek inspiration beyond the world of fine watchmaking. Together with Marvel, AP has entered the world of pop culture and the world of entertainment in particular.
Audemars Piguet x Marvel releases Royal Oak Concept Tourbillon “Spider-Man” Watch, it’s a combination of ancestral expertise with futuristic technology. Boasting 42mm titanium and black ceramic, this watch highlights manufacturer’s boundless creativity in complications. The tourbillon features “Spider-Man” as it appears to be the hero of this timepiece.
Limited to only 250 pieces, Audemars Piguet x Marvel Royal Oak Concept Tourbillon “Spider-Man” is a luxury watch that demonstrates AP’s desire to forge links with different cultural universes. Inspired by the world beyond of Haute Horlogerie, it certainly comes from the world of pop culture. Based on the Calibre 2948, the new hand-wound Calibre 2974 required all the openworking expertise of Audemars Piguet’s engineers, watchmakers and craftsmen for this timepiece to see the light of day. The engineers decided to eliminate much material as possible to be able to achieve the transparency that allows Spider-Man’s character to appear in 3D form as if suspended in the void through the sapphire crystal. The timepiece comes with a black and red rubber strap to match that famous suit of this Marvel Super Hero.
