Velo Modular Handcycle for wheelchair user has been designed to facilitate individuals who want to get active or simply want to try to do sports activities. Aimed at Disability sports clubs, Velo features modular interface that offers a fresh look on increasing popular sports for wheelchair users. With The Olympics and Paralympics scheduled for summer 2012 in the United Kingdom, there is an expected projection in unique sports players following the games. Every part of Velo is interchangeable when required, meaning damaged parts and new updates aren’t costly. The adjustability allows Velo to be clipped onto most everyday wheelchairs on the market, removing the need for curious wheelchair users to buy specialist equipment.

The main shell of Velo Modular Handcycle is reaction injection molded from Polyurethane. The consideration of polyurethane was mainly based around it being abrasion resistant. This factor suits the nature of sporting equipment, where multiple individuals will be using this product in one day. Being used for automotive panels and power tool casing, it was evident that the material would handle knocks and bangs that might occur in the sporting world. At the end of life, the polyurethane is ground up and used again, whilst the internals are removed and used again if in good condition.
