Alienware MK2 Project : A Futuristic Vehicle That Is Grown Rather Than Built

Alienware MK2 Project is a futuristic Alienware vehicle that is grown instead of built. Will this even be possible? Well Stanford’s engineers have successfully created biological transistor, it’s only a matter of time before we start to create biological machines. Anyway, you can read below Shane Baxley‘s explanations about this awesome concept.

The project started last year during my senior term at Art Center College of Design while working on my Apple Car sharing service thesis project. The entire term I had been drawing clean, pure vehicles which was something new for me but one night the itch to design something crazy became too much. So I asked myself, what would an Alienware car look like? Alienware computers are the antithesis to the Apple aesthetic. That night I came up with a general direction and have been tweaking the design ever since as one of my side projects.

In theory this Alienware vehicle would be used for racing in the distant future where vehicles are ‘grown’ rather than built. The driver would sync to the car through his or her suit and the vehicle itself would be one large computer. This is not beyond the scope or reality, engineers at Stanford were recently successful in creating the worlds first biological transistor, thus opening the doors to biological computers. Grown vehicles will definitely be the ‘way of the future’, I just hope we get their sooner rather than later.

MZ Revival Motorcycle Features Organic and Fluid Design

MZ Revival Motorcycle was a group project of 5 designers from DSK International School of Design, Pune (India), they teamed up to work on different aspects, from design, modeling, details to prototyping. This motorbike features organic design language as you can see in every element. The main goal was to design a vehicle that inspires the future design language of the German brand MZ. Which was later extended to prototype each part of this motorbike in such a way that the entire RPT can be assembled without using any tapes or screws and of course, it has to be easy to dismantle as well.

Paraton-e Futuristic Vehicle Blurs The Line Between a Car and a Motorcycle

Paraton-e futuristic concept vehicle aims to amalgamate sustainable thinking with new material technologies to produce a vehicle that effectively fills the gap between car and motorcycle. Issues surrounding the sustainability of recurring urban commutes and increasing traffic congestion have been addressed. As such, this vehicle was conceived to be an ecologically sensitive solution that simultaneously responds to the high comfort demands of a downsizing car owner demographic. Reinforced shape memory polymers enable a flexible footprint and cabin space to actively transform the vehicle whilst in motion.

The user can choose between a configuration that leans and negotiates traffic like a motorcycle, or features a reclined seating position and broad footprint to deliver a stable and assisted driving experience suitable for higher speeds. The variable width of the vehicle also allows for parking in public spaces including footpaths

KruzoR Motorcycle by Chris Stiles

KruzoR Motorcycle is a high powered cruiser, designed for highway sportsbike mayhem on a hybrid of race bike and cruiser. The positioning of the handlebars, footrests and seating position allow the user to be in a position similar to that if you are on a sportsbike, however the arms will be more outstretched. Positioning the seat much lower and at a friendly angle to the tank will allow the rider to rest against the back of the tank.

With hubless wheels and minimal side profile, the KruzoR Motorcycle will handle highway driving crosswinds better than any predecessors before it. The hubless wheels work by fixing the rotating parts of the wheel (bearings etc) onto the outer side of a non-rotating inner ring that attaches to the motorcycle’s swingarm or forks. The footrests are positioned at angle that allow the foot to be rested flat on a surface, differing from the common pegs used extensively on bikes built currently and in the past.

Futuristic Nike One 2022 Racing Car by Phil Frank Design

Futuristic Nike One 2022 Racing Car has been designed for driving simulator Grand Turismo 4. Phil Frank, the principal of Phil Frank Design, LLC explained that Nike One 2022 boasts dramatic and futuristic technology of Nike One with its athletic focus, stretched surfaces and less-is-more philosophy, just like the principles from Bill Bowerman, Nike founder. Since Nike is an athletic company, this futuristic vehicle was designed and developed from that perspective, instead of building just another fast car, the design team took the inspiration and learned from the human body, its motion and dynamics.

“The wide and narrow track widths of the car for instance are directly inspired by a sprinter in the starting blocks” explains Asano, one of Phil Frank design team, “even the asymmetric tire profile comes from the human form”. “All these design elements are there for a functional performance reason” adds Frank, “right down to the dynamic motion control of the suspension”. The Nike ONE’s innovative suspension mimics tension in the muscles and takes advantage of the asymmetric tire profile to have extreme negative camber in a straight line for minimized rolling resistance on the motorcycle like section and then maximum positive camber when cornering or breaking.

Sway : Electric Tilting Trike by Joe Wilcox

Sway will make you think twice about movement. Sway combines thrill and performance of leaning into turns just like a motorcycle, but this time, you don’t have to worry about falling over like when you ride two wheels vehicle. Currently in the market, we already have tilting three wheelers, however, they are offered in very expensive price and complex structure. This unique sporty tilting three-wheel electric vehicle has been designed to meet the needs of a tilting trike that is not complex or over-priced, yet still offers a various advantages over a two wheeler. It was started as a senior thesis of Joe Wilcox and eventually has turned into Sway.

Specs:

At this time Sway uses a 20AH 60v LiFePO4 battery pack producing a 10 mile range. In production we are hoping to scale this up to 60AH for 30 mile range.

Charger is a 60v/5a trickle charger that takes around two hours to fully charge from a 110v wall socket. Charge time can be reduced drastically with larger chargers. LiFePO4 batteries can be charged very rapidly if you provide enough juice. Sway will be a street legal moped-class vehicle. Some terrains are better than others, but as you can see from the video, it is very versatile.

Brembo B-Tech Helmet Features Hassle-Free Automatic Fit Belt Fastening

Brembo B-Tech helmet was one of ADI Design Index 2011 nominees where each year, they’ll select best Italian product design. This product is the first world’s full-face helmet with Automatic Fit Belt fastening and a Jet Helmet view. It’s been designed by Vinaccia Integral Design to enhance driver’s safety and comfort, mainly for urban use since the city is where more than 70% of accidents involving motorcycles happen in Europe.

The innovative automatic fit belt fastening system was born out of the observation that there are many motorcyclists and scooter riders often put on and take off their helmets many times a day for short distance travelling. More often than not they fail to fasten their helmets correctly, leaving them unfastened is reckless and irresponsible. To help with this essential safety operation, Brembo B-Tech helmet is designed with a continuous strap that ends in a winding device. Get the idea? In this way, riders simply press a button to loose the strap or adhere perfectly to the chinrest, no more incorrect position and tension, perfect safety and comfort.
