Chalk Bag is a personal project specifically designed for rock climbing. Designed with strong and durable base, the material is crafted from a retired fire hose, old broken slackline, chord, and a punctured inflatable roll mat. The prototype helps the designer to understand more about different type of textiles which often overlooked in area of design. Yet, this material plays an important part on how we present ourselves and our individuality.
The pattern of the material allows the bag to roll fully flat, while that elastic ring holds everything in place. It means that your chalk can’t escape. Aaron Sylvester has managed to create his own patterns using difficult to shape materials, the result is a fully functional product, a progress of his design journey in learning about fabric material. The idea of reusing an already formed materials, demonstrating the possibility of incorporating a recycled textile in a new product design.
