The “Microbial Loop “ is a study of car morphology that combines Klein bottles with microorganisms. It’s a conceptual design scheme. The modeling of the automobile industry is gradually becoming more and more uniform. This project aims to explore the possibilities of the automobile in the future and brings new inspiration.

In the “Microbial Loop”, the Klein bottle’s characteristics of being independent of the inside and outside are used to open up the joint design between exterior and interior. This concept introduces the design language of “life”, featuring large number of curved surfaces that create a sense of a living form, encouraging new design direction.

Designed by Jianhui Zheng (Jeffry), futuristic Microbial Loop concept vehicle introduces the dynamic effects of “biology” and “rhythm”, offering new dynamic interactive and visual experience.

First of all, the Klein bottle is used as the basis of the form. The Klein bottle has the characteristics of “no distinction between inside and outside”, “infinite space”, and “circular space”. Therefore, the design of interior and exterior decoration is structurally consistent. In the selection of microorganisms, the main visual effects are the microorganisms of Noctiluca luminescent gene. Those strips all over the car body are infusion catheters through which microorganisms can flow. They are strip containers with nutrient solution and microorganisms. Based on the structure of the Klein bottle, they flow through the car body and circulate. Under the effect of this microbial flow, people will feel the sense of life of the car, which is endless.

From the point of view of the biggest focus, unlike the previous car design dominated by straight edges and straight lines, this scheme uses a large number of curved surfaces and they show the meaning and visual experience of life. It is a shape that can only be found in natural life forms. Through differences in form, they tell us the difference between man-made objects and natural objects.

Furthermore, by adding microbial design factors, the concept of “life” is introduced, so that the interaction of traditional cars is no longer rigid and mechanical, but produces a sense of rhythm, randomness, and dynamics of life. All this is so exciting.
