Jimmy Delatour is a 30-year French designer and Art Director, who just opened a design lab/studio in Paris that focuses mostly on concrete furniture. This series is the start of a “Concrete Living” furniture and object line, they both feature minimalist and modern style, and at the same time incorporated with Art Deco movement and modernist architecture inspirations. Those 2 movements created a fracture in both furniture and architecture artistic habits towards a pure line, simplicity of volumes, geometry and harmony. They are a perfect mix between utility and beauty of the lines.
The material of concrete is symbolic in its strength and durability in time. Who knows, concrete living furniture might be the only ones that will last and remain. They become part of your home and part of your life, unalterable.
Designer : Delatour Design Lab
The concrete used for this collection has been improved in weight to become lighter but to keep its great resistance. It is associated with glass to contrast with the sharp concrete volumes, and with pink brass and copper to create warmth characteristic into each piece. So far the Studio has developed a dining table, mirrors, cabinet, chest drawers, console table, pedestal, and candle sticks. The studio Delatour Design Lab is dedicated to the creation of unique pieces and small series, for design galleries and interior architects and private individuals.
Tuvie has received “Concrete Living” project from our ‘Submit A Design‘ feature, where we welcome our readers to submit their design/concept for publication.
