The Sphere Tureen concept has been designed to bring a revolutionary change in the design of tureen, a classical dish that is being used for serving soup, by giving them a modern and eye-catching look. Basically, the design was inspired to give the soup dish the shape of a perfect sphere with lot more efficiency than the traditional one. Therefore, a cap has been integrated with a rail mechanism that allows the cap to be opened by sliding. To ensure convenient carrying, it comprises two handles on both sides which along with the three-way raised base give it an impression like the fairy humpty-dumpty.

Tomas has done a great job in blending the shape with perforated surface to express personality and fit lifestyle of the person for whom the cover is designed.

This cover is fixed to the leg prosthesis in innovative way by utilizing high strength magnets. This mechanism can hold firmly two parts together, but don’t worry, to remove the cover takes only a few seconds, no trouble at all. We really love this fashionable style and customized functionality of the cover, giving the prosthetic a brand new dimension.

Lamphouse Installation – An Architectural Art Project Inspired by Light Beam from Road Lamps

Located in the University of Hawai’i Manoa’s School of Architecture, the Lamphouse Installation captures the space casted by lamps to project a surreal spatial experience from our daily lives. Inspired by the light beam from road lamps, the installation uses wooden sticks to enclose the space underneath a stairway lamp, roof light, wall lamp, spot light, working lamp, flashlight and reading lamp to project surprising spatial structures and warm living energy after dark.

The wooden sticks shoot out like light beams to shape the space underneath through manipulation, emphasizing the transition from daytime to nighttime. The light from the lamps at night and the sunlight at day provides additional light shadow effects during the changes. The newly formed spaces invite audiences to move the wooden sticks as movable passages for them to enter into, reconfigure, and interact with. The artists’ aim is to provoke thought regarding the possibilities of space, interaction and new ideas. The Lamphouse Installation idea will continue to exhibit in other cities as public art and temporary camping house spaces.

The designers consist of assistant professor Hongtao Zhou and his students in ARCH 490: Installation and Sculpture class. The class has formed an architecture residency to promote the art of architectural installations in Honolulu. The participants are: Verna Mae Itson, Angus Lin, Ruben Castro, Janica Domingo, Dustin Chang, Clarenore Selbe, Melissa Gil Raisa Carlos, Timothy Dondero, Jonah Jumila, Benjamin Brown, Justin Takamori, Marcos Cruz Ortiz, Alice Sandstrom, Skye Tagami, and Hongtao Zhou.

Strip by Orsan Berkay Tuluce, Kerem Altınsoy, and Gizem Kirazcı

Strip has been designed for traditional furniture manufacturing processes. It aims to replaces staple guns and tack strips for attaching pieces and getting all parts together, it was designed by keeping the relationship between fabric and wood in mind. This project focuses on bringing a new perspective to traditional furniture manufacturing in local ateliers and middle class factories that uses staple guns, tack strips, and unnecessary staples usage. The designer analyzed all stages of manufacturing period and notice that it offered just a tape gun that was specialized for furniture manufacturing. Strip is a powerful two sided tape for getting all kinds of pieces together and a product design that was based on ergonomics principles with necessary functionalities that a furniture maker needs in whole process. It’ll reduce all countless staples that are used and it offers a way that with efficient use of resources.

BOS Angela Men’s Automatic Mechanical Watch (9001G) Hands-On Review

When we received BOS Angela Men’s Automatic Mechanical Watch (9001G) from GearBest, we were impressed with the luxury box. The watch is housed inside a beautiful black box with cross pattern, you can see a nice “BOS ANGELA” logo. Opening the box, it reveals several things: an international warranty card, a user manual, a micro fiber cloth that covers the watch face to prevent scratch, and of course, the watch itself.

At first sight, the watch look pretty awesome, dark background with silver hands and numbers, at the bottom there’s a little round window where we can see automatic mechanical movement. The weight feels solid, it doesn’t feel like those cheap, light watches. Checkout the watch here.

MV 800 RvR Twin Concept Motorcycle by Lee Thompson

Submitted by Lee Thompson, this concept motorcycle design was inspired by MZ concept, keeping MZ DNA, it also features Streetfighter characteristics. You can read his explanation below.

I recently saw an MZ concept article here and was impressed, however looking at a design in today’s and 5 years time or so design I feel an MZ RvR 800 V-twin (not a Ducati) would be the way to go. Make it different but with a slightly Street fighter/ custom street appeal, but keep a little of the MZ DNA. The frame DNA and a close color flash back to the old blue and the bike would then start to establish an MZ identity, maybe the offering of something unique for example a retracting pillion seat.

The street type custom image leans towards a cut down solo seat look, but what happens when the question of two up riding is asked for? I believe an aggressive stance should be considered so establish an identity, also maybe an introduction (in this case Green) an idea not just to offset plainness but establish an identity whilst offering the possibility of other or alternative customer options to. The exhausts are uncomplicated but again an alternative and identifying attribute to the RvR along with the single sided tube type swinging arm.

FFZero1 Electric Concept Car: Futuristic Single Seat Vehicle from Faraday Future

Faraday Future has revealed a futuristic concept vehicle that boasts modular platform technology at the opening of the CES (Consumer Electronics Show) 2016 in Las Vegas. FFZERO1 is a future vision of the company to rethink mobility including engineering platform on which it’s built. The company also revealed the details of its strategic cooperation with Letv, a leading global technology brand.

Even though this is the company first every concept, FFZERO1 has been designed with attention to details. It is a high performance electric car built upon FF’s Variable Platform Architecture (VPA), a modular engineering system optimized specifically for electric vehicles. All future FF production vehicles would be based on that system, because this platform enables FF to minimize production costs yet still deliver exceptional quality and safety for a range of vehicle types and sizes.

Tek Lumber Wood Stove Was Inspired by Wood Logs and Nature

Sikorsky KANI Light Aircraft : Single Person Concept Aircraft for The Year of 2030

Sikorsky KANI is a light, electric powered single person aircraft concept for the year of 2030. It features tilt rotor technology and a 1+1 seat layout meant to serve in national parks for low altitude search and rescue operations. This aircraft would be a great transportation to help people who have sustained little to no injuries in areas that are difficult to reach quickly in emergency situations. We think the design should be improved by adding some space to carry the injured patient when necessary.

It was designed to improve the overall efficiency of SAR operations. Nowadays, rescue operation is usually done on foot or by heavy helicopters that are usually sent from coast guard or military bases that can be located miles away and take a while to get to the area. But national parks do not have anything like this on duty, mainly because of high cost of maintaining a helicopter that can cost $2000 an hour, and those are just the hard cots. Therefore helicopter services have to be outsourced.

Agar Plasticity Project Wins Lexus Design Award 2016

AGAR Plasticity is an innovative project that explores how agar or known as gelatinous material obtained from marine algae can be used as eco-friendly packaging material. It aims to reduce the use of plastic, as well as reducing plastic waste. Seaweed derived agar is traditionally consumed as food in Japan, but used in scientific and medical fields worldwide. It is usually sold in dry state, it has porous and feathery structure, very light despite its volume. Thanks to those features, AMAM Design Team (Kosuke Araki, Noriaki Maetani, and Akira Muraoka) has been exploring possibility to use agar as packaging material.

Goods are usually wrapped in plastic materials, but once unwrapped, that plastic is usually thrown to garbage or collected to be recycled. However, considering raw materials and energy for processing, this situation should be improved.
