Classical Soup Serving Dish Gets New Shape as Sphere Tureen

The Sphere Tureen concept has been designed to bring a revolutionary change in the design of tureen, a classical dish that is being used for serving soup, by giving them a modern and eye-catching look. Basically, the design was inspired to give the soup dish the shape of a perfect sphere with lot more efficiency than the traditional one. Therefore, a cap has been integrated with a rail mechanism that allows the cap to be opened by sliding. To ensure convenient carrying, it comprises two handles on both sides which along with the three-way raised base give it an impression like the fairy humpty-dumpty.

Snowsports Rescue Vehicle: Modular Ski Rescue Vehicle with Dual Function

Snowsports Rescue Vehicle is a final project of James Langton. This project is a modular ski rescue vehicle specializing in head and back injuries with a secondary feature as a delivery vehicle. With a dual function, this enables the vehicle to be in almost constant use and not only operating during the skiing hours of the day. Read his explanations below.

I’ve taken my design influence from downhill skiers with the two large arms influenced by the skiers tucking their poles in-between their body and arms combined with a minimal interior design designed to be used and driven in full ski gear and gloves.

The vehicle has an independent patient module attached to the main body using a 6-axis Stewart platform and an telescopic arm. The Stewart platform stabilizes the patient module as the vehicle moves over tough terrain, ascends or descends therefore reducing the risk of further injury during transit to the first aid stations. Using the telescopic arm the patient module can move into the emergency position so the passenger medic can turn around and has access to the patient in the case of an medical emergency. A thermal curtain isolates the patient module to the primary module keeping the heat in and maintaining a level of privacy.

WoodieHub: Modern Power Strip by Woodie Milano

Woodie Milano has launched a crowdfunding campaign for their latest project, Woodie Hub, a modern power strip to support your mobile devices.

We have been hiding away our power strips for years and with good reason. Although we all need to charge our devices, an ever increasing challenge these days with phones, laptops, tablets and more, we would rather not look at those white plastic extension cords. By hiding these power strips away however we limit their use and we increase our annoyance level yet again. I myself am also guilty of walking to the other side of the living room to charge my phone, since it never lasts the entire day, rather than to have the power strip next to me.

When looking at the power strip, you’ll notice it has hardly changed for decades and where the technology may have been cool somewhere in 1972, it’s outdated in 2016. So with an outdated design and outdated technology, it’s only a wonder why it took so long to really change. Some people tried to make them look better and some tried to update the outdated technology, but for some reason nobody bothered to tackle both issues at once. At least, nobody until now.

ETICA Porcelain Lamp Was Derived from Unsuccessful Experiment

ETICA porcelain lamp project started in an old pottery workshop in Nove, Vicenza, one of renowned places in the world for the production of ceramics. At the corner of this workshop among with other prototypes, there was a cylinder of porcelain, but there’s something strange about it, as if someone had written something inside it.

It turned out was unsuccessful experiment, the workshop made an attempt to apply a colored pigment between two layers of fine porcelain to create a translucent porcelain that would show a drawing. Unfortunately the technique was unstable. Well, keeping this in mind, ILIDE believed that there’s got to be new project made from this porcelain.

Settantanove Concept Superyacht Features Retractable Hydrofoil Wing

The main objective of this project is to take a 49-meter super yacht and effectively reduce its carbon footprint with the use of a retractable hydrofoil wing, inspired by the technology used in the recent America’s Cup boats.

Whilst hydrofoils are commonly used on smaller boats they are rarely used on larger boats due to the drag issues as a result of larger boats being heavier. The aim of Settantanove Concept Superyacht is to overcome this problem by using Palmer Johnson’s revolutionary large scale Carbon Fiber manufacturing technique, highly efficient hydrogen gas turbine powered engines and self-stabilizing hydrofoils and applying these to larger super yachts. This would create a brand new area in the American market for ‘Sustainable Luxury Retractable Hydrofoil Wing.’

MUPOER Pen Holder Concept by Ajith Soman

A simple product can also be redesigned to provide its user better functions and features. Ajith Soman has submitted his latest project of redesigning a pen holder to make it even more useful to you.

My research reveals that pen holder is a useful product to have on the study or office table. Students and working men use it. Many of them buy it from the market, but some of them use their coffee mugs or glasses that can be attractive as pen holders. However, people who buy it from the market always prefer multi-purpose pen holders.

These factors forced me to design a multi-functional pen holder. Besides holding pens, it has several other uses. Built-in two square high bright LEDs of this product can be used in dark environment until the rechargeable battery is empty. It is designed in such a manner that one can stock his or her notes (sticky notes) on the flat face. Metal clip provided at the base helps to clip papers and re-receipt like documents. The name of the product is MUPOER derived from multi purpose peek holder.

Qwerkywriter : Retro Mechanical Bluetooth Keyboard with Satisfying Clicky Sound

QwerkyWriter, this cool Bluetooth keyboard will give you a kick back to nostalgic era with its retro mechanical design. Once you place it on your desk, everyone would take a glance at this device, it looks like a vintage typewriter, but actually it’s a modern, Bluetooth connected keyboard. Touchscreen technology is getting better and better, we train our mind and fingers to get used to capacitive touch. But when you have to type hundreds of characters, you might retreat and wait when you are at the computer.

The combination of vintage and modern design is really captivating, it features rounded keycaps with shiny chrome rims housed in aluminum case. The fake plastic knob mimics the classic typewriters that we usually use to feed the paper. Do you notice the return bar handle? it functions as an ENTER key by default, but you can also program it to remember up to 5 characters. The compact design is small enough to be carried in your bag or laptop case, but it’s not too small that can cause hand cramps just like when you use those small Bluetooth keyboards.
