Furniture First Aid Kit (F.F.A.) is graduation project of Yalan Dan where he has created a series of 3D-printed bioplastic joints to repair furniture or construct it from scraps. It’s really an interesting project where several plastic joints can be utilized to give broken furniture a new life instead of turning it into a waste. Plywood or chipboard materials can be combined to form new items when needed.
Inspired by “skip diving” and the tradition of butterfly key joints, F.F.A. project makes it possible to repair or redesign waste materials through digitally printable bioplastics.
With the emerge of global cultures of repair and restore instead of throwing away, Yalan Dan aims to support and encourage people to fix things themselves. This habit can be started in their own homes or workplaces. Furniture First Aid Kit (F.F.A.) makes it possible for ordinary people to fix their furniture or even connect parts of certain waste materials to create a functional furniture. This sustainable lifestyle should be encouraged and normalized, fast-furniture has become problem to our planet.
