Dyslexia is a learning disorder characterized by difficulty in reading, it is caused by localized dysfunction of the brain that processes language. Adventure Whale is a concept AR eyewear designed to help children with reading disabilities. Through their learning journey, the design can address various challenges and situational based on children’s needs. The main goal of this project is to make sure learning can be enjoyable and barrier-free experience. These smart glasses support children to grow in a positive and inclusive environment.

Reading is the main soul of education, it has become an indispensable way for student to learn. There are things learned by doing, yet many subjects require learning through reading, this activity has become key factors in a student’s academic and social development.

Adventure Whale AR Glasses by SHS Shih helps children who suffer with reading difficulty and reduce their frustration. These children often have to experience academic setbacks and just decide to give up on education, it can affect their relationships and possible future challenges.

The design of Adventure Whale combines several smart features dedicated to assist young children learn how to read. The exterior is constructed from plastic material with inner side of the frame wrapped in a soft fabric. It is light and comfortable to wear. The AR glasses features eye-tracking technology that traces eye gaze trajectory of child, the virtual assistance ruler will follow along to provide assistance and display support. Even when user feels the text size is too small, Adventure Whale glasses can adjust the size and spacing in real-time through simple gestures. Other features would be real-time recording, smart voice assistant, and visual assistance. Every feature has been carefully designed and developed to support children in reading and learning wherever they are.
