The main purpose of Scacco Matto Portable Lamp project is to investigate unexpected and emotional impacts of light at home. Inspired by 1960s radical design movement, Scacco Matto attempts to blur the line between art and design, it plays with audacious color, texture, and form. There are five different combinations that reminiscent of chess, you can get the hint by the name Scacco Matto, it’s an Italian translation of checkmate.

You can set different settings from atmosphere to focused light, there are three elements connected by magnets where user can create five different lights. Designed by Francesco Cappuccio, Scacco Matto Lamp features sculptural piece that inspires new interest how a light can easily transform the look, feel, and atmosphere of our space. Multiple elements are available where you can easily create an occasional vase or artistic, sculptural dinner light. This project encourages you to explore and interact with different shapes and light.
