As we have more vehicles, our streets have shifted from a human-centered space to a vehicle-centered space. Cities are forced to widen roads with the increased numbers of vehicles, all natural communications between passersby on the street have been diminished. How bout creating a vehicle that encourages people to socialize again? Is it possible to have good interaction with others while traveling on the road safely?
Bubble is a futuristic concept vehicle that aims to tackle this issue, it’s an autonomous vehicle that gives us the ability to “bubble up” with others while traveling on the road.
Chuan Jiang, an industrial design student of Monash University, explains “Concept Bubble” project as his way to create a more cohesive society by encouraging people to interact with each other on the road. This project also makes it possible for automotive manufacturers to also become mobility service providers.
This project “Concept Bubble” speculates how autonomous vehicles can give us the ability to “bubble up” with others when we are traveling on the road. It intends to celebrate a more cohesive society by encouraging people to interact with others on the road and It also provided a possible direction for automotive companies who are changing from automotive manufacturers to mobility service providers. Nowadays, the way we communicate has shifted from face to face to telecommunication due to technology, everything can be done instantly no matter where you are. So, why not implementing the same technology to increase interaction between people, they can connect their bubble with each other when they are going in the same direction. Instead of occupying the road individually, these bubbles create connected vehicles that move as one unit.
