Other charging devices are usually built by sandwiching dozens of different materials between layers of glue, thus, making them inaccessible for reuse, repair, or recycling at the end of their lifespans. Fold is different, it’s been stripped back to its fundamental necessities, delivering a skeletal aesthetic where it can be easily taken apart for upgrade or maintenance.

Designed by London-based, Blond Creative Studio, Fold Wireless Charger features transparent materials to highlight its technology within. Even though there’s an aesthetic appeal when we exposure the inner workings of a sophisticated device, the real intention for this charger is to unveil its inner technology and encourage maintenance. Applying “form follows function” design principle, Fold uses plastic housings clam and capture that soft silicone mat between them, it eliminates the need for glue while providing safety-compliant tech product.

For the packaging, instead of using two layers of packaging (mailer and primary), Fold comes in recycled and recyclable primary packaging which has been designed for shipping as well. It eliminates the need of unnecessary packaging.
