Pedal Lock Transforms A Bike’s Pedal Into A Wheel Lock

Pedal Lock answers the issue of bicycle theft using unique locking system that use the bike’s pedal into a wheel lock. More often than not, bicycle theft is a crime of opportunity, thief simply cut your bike lock and run away with the bicycle itself. Therefore, this new bike locking system challenges the thief to open the lock without breaking the pedal. It’s a creative bike’s lock system that enables a bicycle pedal to transform into a wheel lock, even if a thief manage to break open the lock, the pedal will be damaged and the bike won’t be fully functional to be used for quick escape. This concept was one of red dot design submissions.

This is what happens when some numpty with an arts degree living in airy fairy land thinks themselves clever enough to become a designer. Ask any cyclist if they'd use it and they 'd laugh. Show it to any thief and they'd laugh. Leave bicycle design to the engineers and do something else with your time.

Perhaps I'm missing something. I have to take my pedals off to lock down a wheel, but my bike still needs a cable or u-lock to secure it? What's the point? Why wouldn't I just put quick releases on the wheel and take it with me, if I were convinced that someone couldn't POSSIBLY walk off with my bike?
