Urchin Ceramic Lemon Squeezer Looks Like a Beautiful Sculpture in Your Kitchen

Urchin, a unique ceramic lemon squeezer has been designed by Brian Khouw to demonstrate that even a simple product can look like a beautiful sculpture. The striking design will become a conversation starter between your guests. The inspiration was from prehistoric tools made of flint. Urchin features faceted surface, the texture helps to squeeze the lemon till the last drop. There’s a certain connection between function and tactility, this was also main consideration during the design process.

Brian Khouw explains to us the head of Urchin features sharper pattern that goes all the way back where user can hold this squeezer for a good grip. The other hand can be used to squeeze the lemon and let the juice flow like a waterfall into the bowl.

Made with slip casting method, it means that Urchin is crafted by ceramic forming technique in which a liquid clay body slip is poured into plaster mold. Therefore, it can form a layer on the inside walls of the mold. Each piece is carefully crafted by hand and then glazed and fired in a kiln.
