Wright Hook is a concept project resulted from “Design Project – 1“ course at National Institute of Design, Haryana. The brief was to design a product that’s user centric. The designer wanted to bring Wright Tool measure tape with better hook and incorporate compass feature to draw circles and arcs easily.
Research was done and this concept has been validated by a group of carpenters as well. It’s a redesigned measuring tape that doesn’t sacrifice basic necessities while making the process of measurement easy. It’s an ideal tape for carpenters.
Designed by Divyansh Tripathi, Wright Hook delivers strong and firm hook grip, this part has become the main focus for the overall design. The other issue would be other pain points which are frequently overlooked in some designs such as simplifying the measurement of closed dimensions.
Measuring tapes are usually used in different orientations, most often than not, it loses its grip on long work process, causing the tape to retract. Therefore, it’s very important to design a hook with ability to grip firmly and securely. Vertical orientation of inch would make the reading task easier to be done, user doesn’t need to bend their neck while taking vertical readings.
