Tombot, a US robotics company, just unveiled Jennie, a cute AI-powered robotic puppy designed to help families, communities, and individuals to cope with health adversities. It’s a cute little robot dog that provides companionship and comfort to those who struggle with cognitive health. Thanks to Jim Henson’s Creature Shop, Jennie, the robot dog, looks almost like a real dog. Tom Stevens, a Tombot CEO, created this robot in response to his mother’s dementia, which unfortunately resulted in the need re-homing a dog because she no longer could properly care for the dog.
Through groundbreaking technology, special fabric, and animatronic techniques, Tombot puppies can come to life with natural expressions and behaviors. Thanks to Jim Henson’s Creature Shop’s attention to detail, emotional connection, and sensitivity, this project turns into a special puppy that puts smile on people’s face.
Jennie Robotic Puppy comes with interactive sensors all over its body, allowing her to react to your touch. The voice activation software allows this puppy to react to your commands, such as “speak”, she will bark at you. It emits real puppy sounds, the smartphone app allows you to name your puppy, customize its functionality, and track user interactions on a day-to-day basis. This battery powered robot from Tombot can be charged overnight and it should last all day.
