Japan is a world’s leading robot nation, and it looks like they are going to surprise us with their Tokyo 2020 Robot Project. Tokyo 2020 Robot Project gathers together experts in field of robotics, it is supported by Japan’s Cabinet Secretariat, the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology, the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry, the Tokyo Metropolitan Government, Panasonic Corporation, Toyota Motor Corporation, and Tokyo 2020.
Visitors will find Human Support Robot and Delivery Support Robot, which are developed by Toyota Motor Corporation to help them enjoy watching Tokyo 2020 Games in greater comfort. These robots will provide assistance to spectators in wheelchairs at the Olympic Stadium by carrying goods and foods, providing information, and guiding people to their seats. A glimpse of robotic future can be expected in this event, these robots will certainly showcase their potential for wider application in everyday life.
This project takes advantage of Tokyo 2020 Games as a great opportunity to display Japanese robot technology. This is not just an exhibition about robots but actually showcasing their practical real-life deployment helping people. An executive officer of Panasonic, Masahiro Ido, also says that Panasonic aims to contribute to the success of this summer Olympics through their robot technology and including Power Assist Suits technology. Toyota also provides “the freedom to move to everyone” through their various mobility solutions, including robots.
