Inspired by the rising number of people working from home during the year of 2020, this Terrarium Desk was designed to focus on retaining positive mental health as well as saving space.
Anecdotal and qualitative evidence suggests that humans are innately attracted to nature. Human’s appreciation for the natural world is often invoked as evidence of biophilia. By implementing these natural phenomena within the working environment, it is hoped, it would provide users with greater levels of peace and clarity throughout the day.
Designed by Jake Round, Terrarium Desk is a wall-mounted concept desk that incorporates natural world with its removable terrarium, which is the focal point of the working environment. User will be able to view the plants whether the desk is opened or closed. With its minimal front face, your focus will still be drawn to the plant life even when the desk is not in use. The design also makes use of space with the inclusion of a storage compartment, large enough to hold laptops, books etc.
