Together, Zaha Hadid Architects and TPO Pride Architects (Russia) have been selected to build the new Rublyovo-Arkhangelskoye smart city. Rublyovo-Arkhangelskoye has been designed to house up to 66,500 residents, also with addition to medical clinics, new schools, shopping districts, cultural institutions, and of course, transport infrastructure. This smart city would also have 800,000 square meters of office space for Moscow’s growing financial, consulting, legal, and auditing sectors.
Since Moscow’s population has increased for more than 3 million people to 12.4 million in the past 20 years, Rublyovo-Arkhangelskoye by Zaha Hadid Architects and TPO Pride Architects would become an integral city to accommodate Russian’s capital continued growth while reducing congestion in the center of the city. There would be 4 million square meters of new buildings over 460 hectares to the west of Moscow. Third of this neighborhood would be parklands and forest bordering Moscow River with a 30-hectare lake at its center.
Since this city will be an important, new residential to the west Moscow, there’s a new 19km metro line that is scheduled to start its construction in 2020 to connect Rublyovo-Arkhangelskoye with Shelepikha interchange station of Moscow’s Metro system.
Rublyovo-Arkhangelskoye will be a smart and sustainable city. It’ll optimize consumption and production of sustainable local energy sources while integrating electric mobility, new services, new technologies, and new infrastructure to increase connectivity, productivity, and efficiency.
