Currently, tourists who want to engage in water entertainment have to choose separate entertainment due to conflicting desires such as diving or lying on the beach and sunbathing, they can’t combine several different entertainment into one place and engage with the whole family or group of friends at the same time.
The main goal of PinHouse project is to create an object or system by creative experiments and applying the latest technologies, which would help to combine several entertainment and continuous communication.
After performing different experiments and design researches, three different objects were merged into one. A pleasure yacht, a house and a submarine are the three components that make up the PinHouse. The yacht symbolizes relaxation and fun over the water. House signifies coziness, security and being together with loved ones. Finally, the submarine symbolizes the knowledge of the underwater world.
The selected area for PinHouse Project by Vaidas Byla is a lagoon or a bay (Maldives, Bora Bora, etc.) in the subtropical, tropical, subequator and equatorial zones due to the clear water, warm climate and diversity of underwater life. The inspirations for creating this object were the waves, the combination of water and sand, the stones in the water.
This facility is able to accommodate up to four people. Renewable energy sources such as solar energy are used. It is truly environmentally friendly. Guests can enjoy period of staying in PinHouse from 7 to 14 days.
PinHouse architecture consists of two parts: above-ground and underwater. The part above the water is designed specially for relaxation while the underwater part is the living space. The exterior design has been inspired by the wave through its rise and formation. Monocrystalline silicon photovoltaic modules are installed on the rising surface of the roof, which supply PinHouse with electricity.
An additional sun protection is installed at the top of the roof, which can be extended on request. Sunbeds are formed on the sides, which will allow you to enjoy the pleasures of the sun. Protective railings are tied to the body, they seem to “grow” out of the body and maintain the integrity of the exterior design.
As PinHouse is expected to float in protected areas where there are reefs, additional protection measures are required, it is equipped with a protective navigational aid that will prevent collisions with reefs or rocks. The existing 4 engines are used for maneuvering and at night, the PinHouse would have to be docked onto the “Connecting Island”. Autonomous mooring is also possible, but only in suitable and adapted areas.
The underwater living space is divided into three zones: living room-kitchen area, bathroom area, and sleeping area. A person in a small, enclosed space should feel comfortable and calm, the interior design of the underwater part should not cause additional tension, it should provide calmness. Therefore, the interior is dominated by calm, neutral light colors, and one accent color in this case is yellow. Equipped with main and additional LED RGB lighting, this light allows guests to create their desired color environment and adjust the light intensity.
The interior design solution was inspired by the water connection to the coast. Stairs with a unique design, which “grow” from the wall and slowly move to another wall with a green plant wall, as well as kitchen furniture. The interior strives to maintain fluidity and avoid right angles. The main highlight of the site is a large window across the wall through which one can observe underwater life.
There’s an additional smart glass film is used for this window, it regulates the transparency when exposed to electric currents. The main area also features corrugated seat of different levels with pillows reminiscent of stones. This seat can be transformed into a bed if needed.
A special mobile app has been developed to control PinHouse, it allows user to control the main gate, door, water ladder, lighting intensity and color of the living area, and an additional sunroof. It is possible to monitor the balance of resources (water, electricity, wastewater), whether the electricity production process, water treatment process is taking place. Also travel and have contact with consultants or call for help in an emergency.
For the movement of water over certain distances, “Connecting Islands” would be set up to form a network of islands. Four ships can moor at the same time on the island. It has its own shelter from the sun or rain, a bench for sitting and communicating.
Traveling between the islands would be done with the help of an app. The island to which you want to go would be chosen and the ship would travel to the chosen place and moor itself under autonomous control. During the night or in case of heavy waves, the PinHouse would have to moor to the one of these Connecting Islands. One of the goals of project is to create mini-communities so that when you get off the PinHouse, you can enjoy your stay on the islands and make some new friends.
