Hussain Almossawi has submitted his latest medical device concept to Tuvie, Oxygem.

Oxygem is a smart ring designed specially for people who suffer Sickle Cell Disease (SCD). This wearable medical device offers better lifestyle while reducing the amount of deaths caused by this disease each year. SCD is a condition in which red blood cells are not shaped as they should be, red blood cells usually shape like round discs, but for people with SCD, their blood cells look like crescent moon. The problem is that these sickle shaped cells often get stuck together, they block off small blood vessel that can cause oxygen levels to drop and result in pain and organ damage.

There are abstract radial lines displaying on the e-ink display screen to provide user with certain messages.

  1. I’m just wondering where I can purchase an Oxygem smart ring. My 7 year old son suffers from autism and epilepsy. Some seizures ge has while asleep and his oxygen drops drastically. This ring would help alert me to a possible seizure because of low oxygen. Want one of these asap!
