The word heath derives from an Indo-European root, referring to burning, heat, and fire, it was an inspiration for the light installation designed by Katarzyna Krawczyk. With its delicate and fragility, the Modular Hearth is aimed to translate typical fireplace into modern, cubicle, and modular structure. It is based on steel frames with LED light source, covered with textile inside the cube. There are three types of size for each module where each indicates different part of fireplace: the biggest- wooden logs, medium- flames and small- fire spark.
The concept of Modular Hearth installation is based on multiple modules, that laid on the ground and gradually raised up to the space. Just like burning wood, release the fire that vanishes into the air. One of the main idea is a possibility of connecting and disconnection the modules with some plugins and jack connectors. That way the installation can change the shape according to user’s needs. The concept of Modular Hearth is supported with three handmade models in real scale. This fine work provides romantic and smooth light transition.
