Mikiya Kobayashi Has Collaborated with AISIN SEIKI to Design Wooden Version of ILY-Ai Scooter

In order to give ILY-Ai a softer and warmer look, AISIN SEIKI has collaborated with Mikiya Kobayashi and Karimoku (wood-furniture manufacturer). This personal mobility device (original model) is planned to hit the market in 2020 allowing you to getting around easier and safer for people of all ages.

This fully electric concept moped is designed for both indoor and outdoor, crafted with a frame made of aluminum which is housed in a soft wooden casing. All components are hidden behind the front panel and inside front wheels.

Topped with padded leather seat, ILY-Ai wooden scooter is highly water resistant. The goal here is to give this scooter a warm and friendly touch, something that’s usually can’t be associated with vehicles made from metal. Kobayashi explains that through the use of wooden material along with curved shape and soft edges, the comforting aesthetic has been successfully delivered.

The speed of this electric scooter can be adjusted, even though it is suitable for people of all ages, it is specifically designed for those with mobility issues or elderly people. The speed is set at 2.5miles per hour or similar to walking speed.
