WHO has informed us that COVID-19 can survive on surfaces for an extended time, including door handles that represent a high risk of contamination. By using 3D Printed door opener from Materialise, attach it onto existing door handles, it prevents the need to use hands to open/close the doors. That paddle-shaped extension allows you to use your arm and hopefully, reduce the spread of the virus.

You don’t need to drill holes or replace the existing door handle, the first model can be attached to cylindrical handles. Furthermore, Materialise plans to introduce additional designs, still using 3D printing technologies as needed in response to help prevent the spread of Corona virus.

Started as an attempt to protect Materialise’s employees and visitors, the company realized that many people could benefit from this design. therefore, the company decided to make it available for free, you can access the design and 3D print it locally: https://www.materialise.com/en/hands-free-door-opener
