This project wants to bridge history and modernity, it embodies a unique collector characteristic by reinterpreting an iconic object from the French maison. It’s a project that marks the return of the Malle Lit, a real bed trunk with a contemporary twist.
Just in case you don’t know about the history of Louis Vuitton Bed Trunk, let’s go back to 1868 when George Vuitton designed a trunk for world travelers. In the 19th century, it became a must carry item for travelers and explorers or just anyone in need of a portable bed.
The new design gets a makeover from Maison’s men’s creative directors, Nicolas Ghesquière and Pharrell Williams. This new Louis Vuitton Bed Trunk retains original elements of the classic trunk such as foldable aluminum and beech wood structure while enhancing its aesthetics. It transforms the style to today’s standards as interpreted by Ghesquière and Williams. As you can see, Williams focused on striped motif from that famous 1872 canvas, while mattress and pillow are made of jacquard fabric with distinctive embroidery, LV Lovers.
