Lotus just revealed Theory 1, a concept super car that embodies the future of intelligent performance vehicles. At the same time, Lotus also launched The Lotus Theory, it’s a new design manifesto from the company that will become the foundation for all future Lotus cars. It combines three core principles: design, natural, and analogue, blending all these principles together with cutting-edge technologies. Theory 1 fits around the driver and is able to adapt to their needs for ultimate driving experience.
Many current cars are made of an average of 100 A-surface materials, an act towards more sustainable future and circular economy. Lotus decided to start from scratch to build Theory 1 with as few materials as possible.
Lotus Theory 1 Super Car has been designed with only ten main A-surface materials, yet it has high performance, durability, lightweight, and recyclable properties. Furthermore, this vehicle uses cellulose based glass fiber, recycled chopped carbon fiber, recycled glazing, recycled polyester, recycled rubber, transparent polycarbonate, thermoplastic polyurethane, and recycled aluminum. Equipped with LotusWear driver system, Theory 1 promises soft robotic fabrics in collaboration with MotorSkins, including 3D printed lattice structure headrests in partnership with Carbon.
Theory 1 aims to bring you an electric car that performs exceptionally, it helps unlock driver confidence by making the experience as fun and engaging as possible. This super car features advanced active and passive aerodynamic techniques that include active rear spoiler, cooling, and passive rear underbody, combined with low center of gravity, Lotus promises better stability while increasing the lightness of Theory 1.
