Leica M Camera for RED by Sir Jonathan Ive and Marc Newson

Sir Jonathan Ive and Marc Newson have designed Leica M Camera for RED together with more than 40 rare items ready for Sotheby’s auction on November 23rd 2013. This auction will raise money to help fighting aids, tuberculosis, and malaria. Beautifully crafted from a custom engineered alloy, the outer shell features smooth, textured aluminum. As you can see here, the iconic leather wait of Leica is replaced with laser machined aluminum body. It’s a rare camera indeed, it boasts a full-format 24 MP CMOS sensor, high performance processor, APO-Summicron-M 50mm f/2 ASPH lens.

With almost 1000 prototype parts and 725 hours of manufacturing time, the winning bidder would own this masterpiece. The attention to details from outer shell to magnificent optics.
