Japan Inspired 木 Kanji Side Table Creates Negative Space in Your Living Room

Inspired by Kanji character “木” that means “wood”, here’s a visually pleasing Kanji side table that would complement your space. Japan is a fascinating country, it also inspires Liam de la Bedoyere to explore the potential of Kanji characters in design. Even though learning about Kanji characters is not an easy task, but some simple symbols have stayed with him. As a designer, one of these Kanji characters gave him an idea to transform it into a functional furniture.

Liam de la Bedoyere was interested with Kanji for “wood” (木). He wanted to design a piece of furniture where its shape clearly depicts the character while its 3D form evolves into a contemporary side table. Of course, it would be crafted from wood to honor its meaning. 木 Kanji Side Table represents a display of architecture in motion as well as a study of balance and symmetry. This personal concept project demonstrates a striking base to create negative space in your living room.
