As a well-known auto maker, Skoda is actually started as a bicycle and motorcycle maker. This 130-year-old Czech company is not new when it comes to two-wheeled roots and it looks like it’s going to get back on that again. Skoda Slavia B Motorcycle Concept has been unveiled, it’s the latest concept that revives one of first two-wheeled models back from 1899, of course, with additional futuristic elements.
This concept motorcycle is part of the company’s “modern solid” design research initiative that aims to demonstrate how conventional design can be modernized with futuristic touch to meet our modern times.
Skoda Slavia B Motorcycle Concept was inspired by café racer, maintaining its original distinctive features while boasting contemporary stylish elements. Even though this project is only a concept and there’s no plan for real production anytime soon, but it’s a good sign from Skoda just in case this company wanted to take on two wheels vehicle once again.
The overall design of Slavia B features deep-set handlebars with a solo saddle, just like classic café racer, it is combined with futuristic headlight, sharp edges, and clean lines. If you pay more attention, that negative space the front there’s a floating “Laurin & Klement” insignia, a nod to Škoda’s founding duo.
At first sight, those who remember Skoda’s first motorized bicycles would notice how this new concept pay homage to that legacy. It features the signature diamond frame, yet with a bolder and more muscular form that align with contemporary design. The use of leather on the saddle and grips, together with matching leather tool bag on the left side, creating a nice vintage touch as a homage to the original motorcycle too kits that was used to be tucked beneath saddles. The electric motor can deliver a mighty 1.75 horsepower, no gearbox, no belt drive, no maintenance needed.
