Futuristic AVEM Urban Air Mobility for The Year of 2050

AVEM is a futuristic air mobility designed for the year of 2050, it’s a thesis project by Hemanth Kumar Sudhakaran. In 2050, it is estimated there are 2.5 billion people living in cities and two-third of the world population will be living in urban areas, making cities more crowded than others. With increased high-rise buildings where people live in greater heights than ever, transportation still lies in two dimensions.

With Urbanization sprawling across countries, emergence of new technologies like 5G, Hike in ride-sharing facilities, the scope for pushing the boundaries of 3-Dimensional travel increases greatly. My proposal is an Electric VTol based on the impact of air transport vehicles (VTOL, drones, etc..,) in the future and the role of design.

The design was inspired by the sturdy body features of the “Peregrine falcon”. As nature is the best solution of complex problems. Through this design, Hemanth Sudhakaran is hoping to achieve the perfect balance of perfect proportions with new and experimental ideas for the electric age. The vehicle is called ‘AVEM’, meaning “bird” in Latin.

The design language is characterized by neat, simple surfacing and aerodynamic efficiency. Both wings are integrated into the rear part that connects them with the vehicle in terms of design and reduces turbulence. The propellers are distributed horizontally throughout the wings. These propeller units rotate during the vertical takeoff and landing procedure.

Avem’s interior combines high tech, sustainable materials used together in the right combination to get a new modern design language. The seat covers are 3D knitted from plant-based yarns & dyes.

The front part of the vehicle has been designed for two passengers who might book this vehicle service together. The rear units (also for two passengers) are separated like pods to gives the freedom of choice and privacy.
