In the world post COVID-19, we need to restart the economy and tourism. Due to this Coronavirus pandemic there are so many restrictions we have to follow to slow spread the virus, it has heavily hit air travel and tourism. One of key players to restart our economy and tourism in Asia is the Greater Bay Area, an industrial region in Southern China which consists of nine cities with two special-administrative regions of Hong Kong and Macau.

KITE is a futuristic passengers drone concept designed specially to connect cities of Greater Bay Area in post COVID world. This drone is autonomous and fully electric, it is equipped with cutting-edge technology and minimalist design that represents Hong Kong’s spirit and its region. Just like its name suggests, this drone was inspired by the black kite, a majestic migratory bird that you can find in Hong Kong during winter. This bird has 59-inch wing span and it is extremely fast, agile and intelligent.

Designed with rounded and compact fuselage, KITE Drone minimizes drag and optimizes maneuverability during flight. The interior is designed with special layout of a private jet, it has a central aisle, one line of seats on either side. The cabin can be accessed through a single rear door while those glass side panels function as emergency exits.

Andrea Ponti explains that KITE is propelled by four double-helix rotors which are attached to the composite fuselage. These rotors feature LED headlights for landing and low-altitude flying, they also have retractable landing skids. This passengers drone would land on its special station, it docks onto a platform for embarking/disembarking as well as recharging in between flights.

The cabin supports up to four passengers where each seat has 4-point quick-release. Inside, there are one front screen, two rear screens that display takeoff, flight, and landing information. The seats can recline for passengers comfort, they feature a polycarbonate shell with soft fabric cover and leather cushions. Passengers’ luggage or carry-on can be stored under the seat, for bigger luggage, there’s more spacious storage area behind the back seats. For optimum flight comfort, buttons and retractable trays are integrated in the armrests.

KITE Passengers Drone concept aims to provide new option for inter-city transit within Greater Bay Area. It is a sustainable transport with advanced technology, offering more attractive alternative to traditional form of air transport.
