Foster + Partners has built a scale model of Lunar Tower, a solar energy tower for Lunar South Pole. We need to create a sustainable presence on space, other planets, and even the moon. Therefore, this idea needs us to install significant infrastructure such as communications networks and power source. Foster + Partners and Branch Technology is part of NASA’s Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) Phase I, this company has designed and optimized a 50m tall tower that supports solar panels, creating power infrastructure for the Lunar South Pole.
This scale model of the concept tower is currently on display at “From Earth to Space and Back” exhibition at the Kennedy Center. Foster + Partners allows you to see scale models, 3D-printed structures and films. This project encourages visitors to imagine our future where there’s high possibility that human can leave their footprints on Mars.
