E-YES is a game-based aid that corrects amblyopia in children through vision training and exploration. This tool can be said a child-frendly alternative to traditional amblyopia trainers, E-YES features various modular combinations that encourage children who suffer amblyopia to perform visual zoom, dedicated eye muscle exercise, and color discrimination.
The design of E-YES Amblyopia Trainer looks like a pair of binoculars, it is installed with AR transparencies for both lenses and device. Children can explore their environment wearing E-YES, those lens in the eye and ciliary muscles are exercised when the eye switches between near and far objects. There’s a small ball that rolls through the maze, children’s eyes would automatically follow the ball and focus on it, this is where those ciliary muscles are trained.
Designed by Hsu Fang-Ping, Lai Chien-Chen, and Prof. Li Kai-Chu, E-YES Amblyopia Trainer comes with difficulty adjustment modules that train child’s eyes in focusing. Parents are encouraged to use vision test panel (different lens) to conduct regular vision testing for their children, it helps detect problems that might require early treatment.
Unfortunately due to the rise of electronics and gadgets for children, amblyopia has become a growing problem. There are many children around us that require vision therapy from an earlier age. E-YES wants to offer child-friendly and convenient amblyopia treatment by making it playful and attractive for children.
