The inspiration of Cyclone Mask 1 came when the designer did compulsory community service at the Red Cross in Austria. He witnessed how many people suffered from a respiratory disease, mostly related to dust. Most people prefer not to use a mask when they work in dusty environment, even when they do, they throw it after one use, causing huge pollution for environment and waste industry.
Cyclone Mask 1 by Elias Thaddäus Pfuner offers a safety respirator and a cyclone separator in one. At this moment, there’s no mask on the market that uses a pre-separation system, that’s why this feature is a unique selling point. The RFID sensor can deliver feedback to the user and the status of the used filters through the app. In this way, user knows when to change the filter and the level of contamination, thanks to cyclone separation and RFID app system, the filters can have a longer lifecycle and lower ecological footprint.
