Sicuro Pet Carriers For Eldery People

When I say a dog is a man’s best friend, I’m sure I speak for most of us. I love having my dog around me all the time, a pet provides companionship and a great time you’ll be having with them around. Seniors have the same feeling when it comes to pets. Research shows seniors who own pets are healthier and more alert, because pets keep the owner engaged and give them a companion to live with. Unfortunately, existing pet carriers are bulky and heavy, it’s difficult for elderly people to transport their pets from one place to another. Sicuro Pet Carrier has been designed to address this issue.

The main concern of existing pet carriers is the lifting part, by adding wheels to the carrier and a telescoping handle, the task of transporting the pet becomes faster and easier. Sliding lid makes it easier to open and close when compared to current latch system, not to mention the design of existing pet carriers are more like a cage. There are small holes in the lowest panel that allow the pet to see out and the owner to check the pet. The telescoping handle allows the user to both extend the handle for easy pushing, as well as lock it in a shorter position to easy lifting. This also comes in handy when storing the carrier. Most pet owners consider their pets as family members instead of just pets, that’s why Sicuro has been designed to look like a baby carriage to remove the connotation of a cage. The small size of Sicuro came from interview results. Most seniors interviewed say that they prefer small pets because they are easier to take care of.

  1. Hi Erika,

We are very interested in this pet stroller for our Savannah cats. We own the World's Tallest Cat and she needs a new carrier. Is there any plan for limited production? We would even be interested in purchasing any sample/prototypes.

    Sincerely,
    The Drapers <a href="http://www.guinnesscat.com” target=”_blank”>www.guinnesscat.com

  3. This is a wonderful concept! I really wish you would market this. I am searching the Internet for a carrier for my mother and your design would be perfect.

  4. i would buy this in a heartbeat!! Please make it soon or tell me about another solution for a person with mobility issues to get a cat to the vet! Carriers with soft sides and zippers are a joke for transporting an unhappy cat. It's too hard to walk and carry a hard sided crate style carrier. I am now putting the crate on a wagon to get it to the car and then getting vet personnel to unload it! I have spent hours searching the Internet for a solution. Please make this ..you could take it on Shark tank!

  5. This seems like a really incredible design and I would like to see this concept become a reality. As someone mentioned above a kick-starter campaign would be a great way to start raising capital and get more people involved.

  6. I wish this design could come to fruition! It would be perfect not only for elderly people, but for city dwellers who live close enough to the veterinarian to walk. My pet plus carrier is too heavy for me to carry to the vet, so I have to wait for a car service that takes anywhere from 15 minutes to an hour to go 10 blocks. This would be a perfect solution, and the wheels look sturdy enough to navigate a bumpy sidewalk comfortably.

  7. I have been searching for this for my over-sized cat and ease of transporting her. I have used strollers (both attached carrier and removable carriers) I have used hard and soft carrier. All of these are too cumbersome for me. This looks like it would work especially since it is being designed with elderly in mind. Let us know of a kickstarter or how to go about getting it. This is a GREAT idea!!!
