Selkaline Oy Barstool Design by Krisztian Griz

Selkaline Oy barstool design was part of design course task where the designer was given 6 weeks to design a barstool for this company. This barstool is viewed as a timeless design with its typical Scandinavian minimalist design. It is constructed only from aluminum and wood, thus, making the product eco-friendly (aluminum being 100% recyclable and wood being renewable). The seat part and footrest are made from the same material.

  1. This project looks really nice, though it clearly requires some technical development.
I'd recommend a review of the fixation system, both in seat and footrest.

For the footrest: the screws are aligned with the axis, in time this may get fragile, making the footrest twist a little bit.
As for the seat: The wood bottom design should consider the flat steel plate used for fixation, to guarantee a practical and precise assembly of both materials.
I'm not sure about the aluminum use, maybe you'd require a very thick plate, as this material is known for being very flexible.

This is a very nice design, you should really go on with this project. I really appreciate your concern about eco friendly materials and minimalist purpose! Congrats!
