Innvelo Three 2-Seater Personal Vehicle by FORM & DRANG

Innvelo Three is a design submission from Ronny Sauer, a concept 3-wheeled vehicle that allows you to drive up to 100km/h. You can read his explanation below:

Over the last 3 years me, my design-agency FORM & DRANG and a group of medium-sized companies developed a three-wheeled electric car. That was a great experience to see things growing on the paper to a real driving vehicle. The most important point on this project I have learned was NEVER GIVE UP and NOTHING IS IMPOSSIBLE.

First we got a Briefing with al important facts and limitations. Low cost, low weight, and a magnificent appearance. After this, we started with a lot of sketches and Photoshop-work. The family of the bees was our muse. For this reason, we chose the bee for the COMMERCIAL-Car, HORNET for the race-version and the BUMBLEBEE for the work-version. After this we did a lot of CAD and a tape rendering to get a feeling of proportions. That was also a lot of fun.

Golden Pin Design Award 2014 Winners

Golden Pin Design Award has announced its best design winners for 2014, below are some great designs we would like to share with you in random order.

1. Cardiac Rehabilitation Monitor System

This CRM System combines elastic fabric electrodes and comfortable knit fabric to provide sternum support and monitor heart rate variability (HRV). The minimalist design of this functional monitor allows it to be comfortably and discreetly concealed under the clothes of the wearer. The system uses Bluetooth to transmit signals to an app, which allows users to independently manage their health. This CRM System has passed the required bio-compatibility (ISO10993-5, -10) and electrical safety (EN606061-1) tests, and has been granted CE safety certification.

2. Espresso Urban Bike

Espresso Urban Bike is designed specifically for urban living in Asian cities. The frame geometry of Gearlab’s Espresso caters to East Asian proportions, ensuring a comfortable and confident ride for Asian owners. The choice of smaller wheels with 20-inch rims means the bike accelerates faster, an essential function in the stop-and-go traffic systems typical in Asian cities. These small wheels also make the bike easier to carry in and out of tight living spaces. The bike is comfortable and has a place for bags and personal belongings, a simple locking solution, and stunning aesthetics.

3. FO-1103-P

Modern office lighting consumes far more energy than is actually necessary. A well designed office lighting system can provide an efficient light source for a working environment. All lights in the FO-1103 Office Series are made from aluminum, are adjustable, and are minimalist in design. The angle of the light and the color temperature can be adjusted by remote control. The FO-1103-P is a dexterous pendant light: the body of the lamp can rotate upwards to 180 degrees and downwards to 15 degrees. The lighting mode is flexible and can be adjusted to suit the usage needs of any given space. Available modes include down lighting, centralized lighting, two-directional lighting, and indirect lighting.

The FO-1103-P is a true product of the future; to install this fixture, a designer needs to work with a lighting specialist who will link it up to all the other electronic devices common in today’s home. It is a concept that fits perfectly with the IOT (Internet of Things) methodology.”

4. Here I Am Sticky Note

Here I Am turns a 2D post-it note into a 3D note through folding. The space saved in the folding process creates more writing areas and enhances the efficiency of the product. The triangle shapes are sticky on all sides, and no matter where they are used, they are easy to find. Here I Am was developed to improve working and noting efficiency.

5. Modelshop Wooden ARToy- Panda

The wooden model, Panda, is engaging from the moment the package is opened until the final pieces are fitted together. The toy combines humor, ingenuity, and art to bring pleasure to the senses while at the same time rewarding the maker with a feeling of accomplishment. Through innovative design practices and making use of mechanical principles, the finished Panda springs into life when a crank is turned. The automata is made from precision-cut, environmentally friendly materials and can be assembled without having to use glue or sharp tools. The latest technology is used to manufacture the curved parts from reconstituted wood. The model can be assembled by people of all ages: the process of building Panda by hand encourages patience and focus.

“We all have smartphones. We’re all recording large amounts of video and photos on our phones. To have a device that then allows us to view those images and those videos in a format that is outside of our screen is really in demand. They’ve managed to squeeze a lot of technology into a very small footprint. It’s a very intuitive little product as well. I could pick it up, switch it on, and within seconds I was operating it. There was no instruction book and the interface was in Chinese, but it was intuitive enough that I could still use it and to me that’s a sign of good design.”

7. SYL958 Loader

The SYL958 Loader features an edgeless door cab design; a built-in, integral Roll Over Protective Structures (ROPS) and Falling Object Protective Structures (FOPS) design; a visualization central electrical box; and a Parker fingertip operating system. The cab is sealed against the intrusion of dust to protect the health of the operator, and noise is reduced to a level 6 dB lower than other machines in China. A two-stage damper system with four-point suspended installation guarantees a comfortable operating experience. Daily service and maintenance points can be easily reached from the ground. The service life of key components is improved with the inclusion of an advanced technology DANA rotor type gearbox, a drive axle for heavy mining machines, and a reinforced heavy-duty vehicle body structure. An efficient fixed-variable confluence high-pressure system results in energy reductions of over 10 percent. The internally-pressurized oil tank stays cleaner for longer, resulting in a longer service life and less frequent oil changes. Recyclable materials and lead-less paint are incorporated across the machine.

μrban : Micro Urban 3-Wheel Concept Car by Ariel Marioni

μrban (read: murban) is a three-wheel concept car that uses small wheels and electric drive system. It’s a personal vehicle for urban traffic where you can cruise the city with ease. Even though it’s a personal vehicle, the spacious interior is enough to accommodate up to 2 passengers including baggage. The smart design allows this small vehicle to be comfortable and secure even though the overall dimensions are reduced to provide high mobility even when you drive in an area with high volume traffic. The 12Kw battery pack allows this small car to reach 150 km before you need to recharge the battery.

Polaris has unleashed Slingshot, an awesome, jaw dropping, 3-wheel roadster to celebrate the company 60 years of innovation. This vehicle has been designed to deliver head turning excitement of two dimensions, the first excitement comes from something that you can see, hear, and feel when riding Slingshot, second excitement comes from how you feel when people turn their heads to star at your ride in awe.

Slingshot offers a new on-road driving and riding experience, it’s not something that you usually ride, it’s a motorcycle with the feel of automobile. The open air cockpit gives a cool 360-degree rush of sight along with sound and smell. The side by side seating arrangement allows the driver and passenger to enjoy front row shot of adrenalin, the wide stance and sport-tuned suspension encourages you to charge every corner and never let off. nThree Electric Vehicle Offers The Comfort of A Car with The Cost of An E-Bike

nThree electric vehicle aims to provide you with affordable, personal vehicle that features the comfort of a car yet with the cost of an e-bike. It sounds pretty ambitious and interesting, doesn’t it? Let’s read what these designers have to say about the project.

Following the recent electric revolution of lightweight vehicles around the world, the nThree is a new design, following the very successful nCycle e-bike concept. With the irreversible process of global economies turning towards renewable energy, the way we see and use the city has already changed and is set to do so dramatically in the next few years.

With our increased awareness and sensitivity towards energy consumption, courtesy among others of the most recent economic crisis, in the last 4-5 years, personal transportation has begun a slow but steady drift away from the model we have come to know in the past century. The 10s and hundreds of new e-bikes and electric cars like the Renault Twizy or Toyota i-Road have shown the way to a more personal and conscious approach. Our new concept builds on the characteristics and refines the strengths of these vehicles to bring electric power even closer to the mass market.

Small electric cars, tricycles and quadricycles all suffer from the same inherent drawback; they are meant to be cheap and affordable but they end up being expensive like real cars because they are BUILT like real cars. The mission on the nThree was to address these conceptual and design shortcomings and design an affordable, single-seat electric vehicle that would offer all (or most) of the comforts of an electric car at the cost of an e-bike.

To achieve the objectives, the nThree electric vehicle was built with a simplistic approach reminiscent on the nCycle. In first place, the vehicle was reduced to the most essential stable geometry of three wheels to reduce cost. Even though the latest small electrics are a great way to move around the urban areas, there is something about these offerings that does not look great at all: Price. Starting from about 7000 Euros and above these 1-2 seaters cost almost as much as a cheap standard car and more than many used ones in good condition.

MUV-e Scooter : Low Energy, Cost Efficient Green Vehicle for The City

This is the age where world’s city centers are experiencing a rapid population growth that also effects the growth in the number of motorized vehicles on the road. The number of vehicles is the main cause of traffic jam and air pollution, so, in order to answer the challenge to create green and compact vehicle, Amir Zaid has come up with MUV-e scooter. It’s a foldable scooter, an alternative transportation solution from an Israeli company. MUV-e is a low energy, cost efficient vehicle, an ideal vehicle to give citizen green mobility in the city.

Three-Wheeled Car for Handicapped People or Senior Citizen with Limited Mobility

This project is about a three-wheeled car for handicapped people or senior citizen with limited mobility. The basic dimensions of the vehicle are 1793mm (W) x 3612mm (L) x 1800mm (H), the main frame is constructed of steel while the body uses fiberglass. This concept vehicle has been designed to accommodate 2 passengers and one of them on a wheelchair.

This electric vehicle is able to travel up to 50mph with maximum speed of 65mph, the electric motor is located between the front wheels, while the batteries are placed inside the undercarriage. A remote control can be used to open the doors and luggage space, the hydraulic system allows the car to elevate from 3.5-inch to 7-inch above the ground.

Phase 2.0 Futuristic Vehicle Can Handle Wider Variety of Terrain

Well it is difficult to imagine what transportation in future would like with the way designers are coming up with innovative vehicle designs. That being said, if you had to ride to your organization in the new concept Phase 2.0, you certainly wouldn’t have much to criticize about, specially because it features TRON-like lighting over the wheels. This spectacular all-terrain three-wheeler has an auto-pressurized tire for adjusting to several environments like desert dune or swamps and boasts 2 smaller tires to support it. While going over irregular terrain like rocky regions, the pressure on the tire can be reduced, nevertheless, tire pressure can simply be increased while speeding down the Autobahn.

Well, about the engine, the designer wanted it to work with used water with an exceptional Laser that makes a strange combustion, which can make this titanic engine work. This machine would be driven digitally and the driver needn’t have an eye on the big tire. The designer intends this extraordinary vehicle to be far off into the future for real-time applications.

Modern Version of Morgan Motor Company 3 Wheeler

Morgan Motor Company was popularly known for its production of Threewheelers. Such a brilliant design by the renowned engineer Harry Morgan became the most successful cars of the past. Well, 2011 is just the ideal time to re-launch this outstanding design. Young people wouldn’t have experienced the same ecstasy as the early Threewheeler cars. In fact, cult status is promised for a car with an emphasis on simple yet honest functionality.

The Morgan 3 Wheeler is considered to be the most genius production by Morgan and the company is set to expand its range and get back to its roots. A blend of modern technology into an archetypal design has resulted in the Morgan 3 Wheeler. The car offers ‘get in and drive’ ease and reliability, after being equipped with the newest 1800cc V Twin engine together with a Mazda 5-speed gearbox. A strong tubular frame with 2 rollover bars surrounds the commuter compartment. An aerodynamic brilliant bullet hull protects the tenants from the weather.
