Devices that assess power consumption of a house are very much familiar with us. But how many of you have seen a device that measures your body surrounding power consumption? Worrell is a design firm based on Minnesota has designed such a device named Gruve which is a personal energy-burning monitoring system based on Dr Jim Levine’s research. He discovered that it is possible to lose unnecessary weight by being active all through the day which will shut the metabolism down. Gruve is a tri-axial accelerometer that can indicate the progress of an individual against his or her pre-measured metabolism by monitoring the individual’s every movement all through the day.

This transformable spin vehicle is able to change the position of the driver and his distance from the ground in order to generate different types of vehicle topologies and different levels of complexity to drive. Designed by Matias Conti, the vehicle’s direction system works by rotating the wheels by the electronic actuator and tipping the lateral arms. Riders can drive this vehicle in an intuitive way utilizing their own body weight. The vehicle uses battery for electric supply and the rear motor wheel provides motion. With all these features and its crazy look, this single seater bike surely can give you a sensational driving experience.

The Electrolux last year design competition challenged students to come up with appliance designs of the future and one such interesting design was the Stratosphere. Designed by Budapest based Hungarian student Attila Sáfrány, Stratosphere is a design of a clothes rack. This rack helps in storing the clothes if to be used again and helps to maintain hygiene as it sucks off all the germs and micro pollutants out of the clothes and these goes to the filter placed in the device and out come a clean cloth which can be used again whenever desired. All in all it’s a nice and clean concept.

This new car concept which was a participant at the Michellin challenge design 2009 is one that is modern in functions yet contemporary in design. The car runs on the new energy system known as OCE or One Common Energy wherein the complete system runs on the same type of smart battery. The system consists of a battery, CPU with customized interface for user communication and function which in itself can replace the need for the regular battery, engine and other control systems found in today’s cars. The car has been designed by Korean born Yongbang Ho.
