With environment friendly issues being the prime concern for all designers so is this new charging device. This new battery charging device or Solar Pot makes use of solar energy to charge itself. All one has to do is to place the discharged cell inside the stem of this charging device and then the place the charging device in the sun. The device then takes up the solar energy and thereby charges the battery. This device helps in recycling the dry cells the natural way, which otherwise is one of the biggest environmental hazard. Quite an eco friendly way to save environment!

Blue Earth is the first solar powered full touch screen cell phone which beautifully designed by Samsung. By charging with the solar panel located on the back of the phone, users can generate enough electronic power to call anytime anywhere. This cell phone is made from recycled plastic called PCM, which is extracted from water bottles, helping to reduce fuel consumption and carbon emissions in the manufacturing process. Samsung Blue Earth mobile phone and the charger are free from harmful substances such as Brominated Flame Retardants, Beryllium and Phthalate.

This new solar charger by sonic designs is something that’s picked out from the books of space ships as this charger can be placed anywhere to charge the cells. This new improved version comes with a larger suction cup which helps it in being able to fix itself in any surface thereby being charged from any position, wherever it has access to sunlight. The new bicycle design by Torkel Dohmers has recently won the ‘commuter bike for masses’ design competition. The bicycle named “ThisWay” has been designed keeping in mind the safety and security of the rider from all sorts of situation. Care has been taken by designer to ensure that the rider is safe from weather as the concept has covered top thereby giving the concept an automobile like feel. Also the material used is light weight with the front and rear lights being operated by solar cell placed above the roof, space has been provided on the back for keeping luggage and other stuff. Quite a practical concept as the vehicle will be cost effective as the running cost is still lesser than that of the car.

The electronics market today is more and more concentrating in designing products that are not just good to look at but also possess other features like, being light weight, thin, wire less, water proof and also shock resistant. This technology is termed as nano-technology which surely puts the old adage that good things come in small packages, hence this technology which is still in its nascent stage as there is still research happening and more features being added and developed, it will be good for 3 to 4 years before we can actually see the technology affecting our daily lives.
