Lumir C: Candle Powered LED Lamp Anytime, Anywhere

After traveling throughout India, the design team of Lumir realized the seriousness of blackouts. There are many households in developing countries that rely on candle lights even though they are still too dark to lead an everyday life. Lumir C is a candle powered LED lamp that aims to light up the world, it doesn’t require any batteries or plugs, just use a candle to enjoy bright LED lamp.

User can read a book, cook, or work without any external power supply. This light design was inspired by a lighthouse that lights up a dark sea, using the principle that converts temperature difference between two other types of semi-conductor directly into electricity. Lumir C lights up the LED using heat energy from the candle.

BMW 1150GEth Tesla Motion : Futuristic Concept e-Bike Inspired by A Video Game

Submitted by Djordje Kovacevic, BMW 1150GEth Electric Motorcycle is a concept study, aiming to create futuristic zero-emission motorbike. You can read his explanations below.

The GEth’s unique look is something that clearly sorts it to a new kind of motorcycles. Beside it being electrical a new limb-suspension and steering system makes it aiming towards innovations. You can tell from this design that it is an electric machine. Design of the GEth is obviously more on the classical lines side, avoiding most of the popular aggressive fluid style shapes. With retro looking cockpit, similar to those on WW2 airplanes that integrate a high-end hardware, it is trying to make a new direction in design of futuristic motorcycles.

The basic idea of the body came from the “Mass Effect” video game’s creatures, those creates are called Geths, aliens that are artificial life, machines. The styling of the GEth concept is designed to highlight this vehicle’s autonomy and to encourage the concept of self-driven assistance of the vehicles in the future. Towards the future philosophy GEth’s heart follows the electric path. Its ultra-compact 12.8kWh battery has a range of 200km and can be recharged to 80% capacity in 20 minutes. Ultra-rigid exoskeleton that integrates most of the components is made from strong light composite materials.

Kanban Side Table Was Inspired by Hong Kong’s Historic Industrial Buildings

Kanban Side Table has been designed as private collection by Andrea Ponti, an Italian designer currently based in Hongkong. It’s a concrete and steel side table that pushes the boundaries of form and aesthetic, past and present. It aims to capture Hong Kong in a product by embracing the spirit of cosmopolitan metropolis at the crossroads between East and West. The concept table was drawn from essential components of base and top from innovative use of materials, layout, color, and shape. The use of steel and concrete mimics the style of Hong Kong’s historic industrial buildings where former multi-story factories transformed into offices and warehouses. Even the unique shape was inspired by large neon signs that light up busy streets of Kowloon. The contrasting colors of neutral concrete and charcoal give the table a minimalist pictorial quality, creating a chiaroscuro – an effect of contrasting light and shade. The float horizontal top floating above vertical cylinder base creates exquisite contrast between density and airiness.

Renault 8 Gordini Is Redesigned in 2 Versions by Andrus Ciprian

Submitted by Andrus Ciprian, this concept car is based on the classic Renault Gordini R8. It’s a design study aims to give modern look to this vintage car.

Passionate and inspired by retro cars, I’ve created a concept for Renault that is inspired by the old Renault Gordini R8(R10) model. From the beginning it can be noted that there are 2 versions of cars both with two doors.

I’ve wanted to give the model a new image in order to highlight its “moments of glory” when it was always present on the rally track. I felt that Renault needs a model with two doors, a rebirth in this form. The new concept keeps the engine in the rear location (perhaps a collaboration with Porsche :)). Old design elements are refined and combined with new design elements that are found in the new models from Renault.
