Dragonfly vertical farm is a concept urban farm specially designed for the Roosevelt Island of New York City which will reduce the problems associated with food shortage, mileage and connection between the producers and consumers. Because of the densely packed city civilization, this farm has been designed vertically, spanning 132 floors and 28 different agricultural fields for accommodating dragonflies aiming to produce fruit, grains, vegetables, meat and dairy. This Dragonfly wing shaped superstructure features wind and solar power producing capability and includes housing, offices, research labs and communal areas separated from farms, orchards and production rooms. Cluster Housing Design to Handle Extreme Temperature Problems

This Sydney based EnterArchitecture is designed to overcome the problem of extreme temperatures. This concept is characterized by leaning roof shapes made up of highly transportable lightweight resources such as bent metal profiles and formed plywood panels. It is known as a cluster of comfort because of its easy assembly, thermal comfort and a strong design. There are variable openings in the panels and they can be customized as per the user’s requirements. The concept is designed in a very unique manner in order to provide several configurations to accommodate full sun protection from harsh sun. Somehow, this design seems a little congested for the user.

Uber Shelter : An Emergency Shelter in Disastrous Events

Uber Shelter is an amazing concept for a portable housing unit that would help people in meeting their immediate shelter requirements created by disastrous events. This great concept is designed by Rafael Smith. This shelter can be very quickly transported and reassembled with just few necessary tools and offer victims with individual living space. The best thing about Uber shelter is that it is made from recyclable and reusable materials. Around two to three personal rooms can be created in this shelter. I believe these types of concepts are very useful for unpredictable disasters.

T.E.D. – Transportable Emergency Dwelling

The new housing design by U.S. based student Craig Mackiewicz is known as the Transportable Emergency Dwelling. It is simply a house built within the footprint of a shipping container and is a unique solution to low cost housing. Each container can easily accommodate two families with scope for extending the space by pulling the compartments and tents. Also each unit has basic utilities required for a normal family daily needs like kitchen, bathroom, storage space etc.The designer has also kept in mind the rain water harvesting by keeping a slant roof having a capacity to conserve 350 gallons of water; even the solar energy is conserved to provide electricity. So all in all, it’s a unique solution for tomorrow’s housing needs.
