Renault Ondelios is a concept car especially designed for long distance travel and will be displayed at 2008 Paris Motor Show. This style of the car is enthused partly by an aircraft. Its slippery and low drag body and a canopy-style will surely catch your attention. You cannot ignore its boomerang shaped tail lights which add to the style and overall look of Renault Ondelios. The butterfly-type side doors are extremely amazing giving it a shape of aircraft. This car can accommodate 6 people and individual seats are arranged in 3 rows of paired seats. Passengers will be having their own Samsung interactive portable multimedia devices for sharing data or playing multiplayer games. So, overall Renault is a luxurious car for those who can afford it.

“Xylophone Bin” is an amazing creation by Dominic Wilcox designed for Danish Company Vipp’s charity auction event held in New York. It is not an ordinary bin but it plays music. Xylophone bin is made up of oak and steel. When you press the pedal, the lid opens and it releases a ball that travels down a spiral set of xylophone steps around the bin. Whenever that ball touches a step, a note is played and while going down, the note gets lower. It is hard to see such a musical concept and that too for a good cause.

The innovative conceptual product by Laura Sink of The Art Institute of Pittsburg is an interesting one. Natura Levo, is a small, vertical-axis wind turbine whose primary purpose is to catch wind from any direction. The beautifully shaped stationary shape is the center axis for the design, which can be mounted to any existing structure like a telephone pole or even the usual backyard and once mounted the device, is used to catch wind. It’s a nice and simple way to make us aware of the need to coexist within the natural surrounding. So it is a nice, sleek and practical educational tool for today’s generation.

The new camera designed by Hakan Bogazpinar, is one gadget that surely seems to be taken straight out of the bond flicks. It makes use of all latest technologies and provides the best solution for the task at hand. Named as “Flee”, it’s a design solution or a set of a digital camera and a Bluetooth receiver for the mobile phones. The device is supposed to be thrown in the air, and then it starts taking photos of surrounding area and sends the same to the mobile phone via Bluetooth. And the best part is that the time interval between two photos can be customized, so it is completely user friendly. So just throw and click!

Chi Shing Lo, a student at the UK’s De Montfort University recently won the annual D&AD Student Awards for the new mobile phone handset designed for Orange. This win is his second major competition this year. The D&AD Student Awards of course showcases the best emerging design and advertising talent from colleges and universities around the globe. The handset design includes a simple ‘hole’ which doubles up as a view finder when used as a camera, a charging point which uses inductive charging technology, and also for transferring data. It also has a mirror surrounding which enables the users to take their own picture.
